This week our class started a novel study, the novel our teacher choose for us was a book called “Charlie Tangaroa.” The book is about a boy named Charlie walking along the beach with his brother Robbie and on their way home they come across a strange girl but its not just any person, its a ponaturi. they called their grandpa and they took the ponaturi to their house and put her in the saltwater pool they had in their backyard.

After reading those 3 paragraphs, our task was to make a character description of Charlie. In the description, we had to include Charlies key relationships and some interesting facts about him.

We are learning to replace boring words with more exciting words!

The criminal named Zoe infiltrated the pet shop planning to take the 3 golden puppies. She secured 3 fluffy golden retriever dogs by stealing them from their heated cages.  Fortunate for the dogs, a security guard detected movement on the cameras and called backup .”Stop in your tracks!” exclaimed the guards while shining an eye-blinding flashlight around the store.

This week for cyber smart I made an all about me! I started it about a week ago and finished it today, the theme I was going for was navy blue.

Whats your favorite food

On Friday the 5th of June we had winter sport on. For winter sport I do capture the flag (sadly without my friends kinda unfair ik). Surprisingly we got our first point all year which is kinda embarrassing but amazing to admit. At the beginning, we got split into two teams. The first 15 that started would come off at half time and the next 15 would go on and I got picked for the first half :). Though we did lowkey get clocked, it was a massive improvement from the first day uhm ( tbh I don’t see any improvement but ppl say there is improvement so uh I’m going along with it). Overall my experience that week wasn’t exactly on the positive side or anywhere near it, mainly because I had no one to talk to because all my friends were in different sports…also not my fault. If I had to rate that day, I would rate it a 3/10 :(.

Whats your favourite sport?

In my opinion, I think that living in a space ship would be better then living in a submarine that never surfaces .

I believe this because firstly, going to the restroom in a submarine would be quite the challenge. It would be a challenge because if you installed a toilet then the pipes would have nowhere to go and it would have to be released into the ocean. However in space, astronauts relieve themselves in plastic bags that can later be used for scientific purposes that might help the environment. While that does sound odd at least it helps but in submarines plastic in the ocean is a big no.

Another reason is that if you get your monthly time while on the submarine, a shark is bound to smell the blood and find you. People say that “you could see beautiful sea creatures!” but the truth is, once you spend a certain amount of time in the water, all you’d see is 10 bubbles per hour.

Finally, the last reason is that the water current would eventually push open the submarine door due to sea pressure and water would flood in. By the time you have a risky idea, it’ll be too late and the water would already lead you to your end.

So that’s why I think living in a space ship would be way safer and better.

Which option would you pick?

On Tuesday the 12th of May at 11 am, the year 4, 5, 6’s, and year 7/8’s all lined up on the field. Everybody seemed excited and so was I but as the time passed by, a nervous feeling crept over me. When the clock reached 11:25 am, it was time. The year 6 girls all lined up, just behind the line. Butterflies were throwing a wild party in my stomach and wanted to sink into the floor and never come out.

“GO” yelled Mr Redmond, And I was off. I sprinted through the leafy path of tree’s, it felt like there was a lighting bolt rushing through me. I ran through the bike track, I heard people gasping for air behind me but I was to energetic to look back. After reaching the end of the bike track, I felt a sense of peace go through my body but of course it didn’t last for very long. Before I knew it, 3 people rushed past me and sprinted towards the trees that we all once started at. I ran through the path of trees, seeing the same leafy path with dead trees. I ran to the bike track once again, gasping for air. There was Lulu, Violet and Harper, clicking photos and cheering us on while we sprinted through and past the playground.

Finally, the finish line was in sight. Despite the fact that my legs felt frail and wobbly, I powered through and made it too the end. I ran as fast as I could and when I finally reached the end of the race track, I was told I was 4th and that I got into zones. A smile struck out onto my face, I walked around and eventually found my friends who were waiting for my other friend to finish. My overall experience was a mix of exhaustion and and energy all put together into one big emotion and next year I hope to get into zones again!

This week we did a T-shaped literacy on anzac day and we also had some tasks to complete before blogging! I writ about how in the story, Harry was a farmer before he got shipped of to war.

Ever wanted to know some really interesting facts about the rarest crab in the world (puget sound king crab!) well then this is exactly what you’re looking for! 

What do puget sound king crabs look like? -Adults are orange, red and purple and can grow up to 6-10 inches (15-25 cm). While juveniles are mostly orange with little splotches of colors like red and purple and around 4 cm. Puget sound king crabs are also known for having a slight glow in the deep ocean, making them somewhat visible. They also have interesting textures and patterns, making them different and special compared to other crabs. 

Puget sound king crabs diet!- Puget sound king crabs are often spotted eating seaweed and sea anemones and sometimes even sea urchins. They normally eat large portions of smaller sea creatures and sea slugs. Sea anemones and urchins are normally their main source of food but they also eat little creatures like worms, mussels, clams, fish parts and algae. 

Puget sound king crab habitat!- Puget sound king crabs are extremely rare to find but when they are spotted they are often seen on rocky dark rocks or rocky and muddy sea beds in freezing cold waters reaching about 140m down in the sea. They usually go down deeper to avoid warm waters but studies show that their larvae fails to mature in colder waters. 

Wow fact: One wow fact about puget sound king crabs is that they are actually cannibals and hunt each other when they can’t find any food!

In conclusion these not so gentle creatures can look harmless and friendly but they’re  pretty hostile but still cool to look at from afar!

This week we read a story called fresh and for the create task we had to make a comic strip of one of the main characters emotions throughout the story (mama’s emotions)

This week in our class we did a T-shaped literacy about a boy fundraising for a ski trip so for our create task we had to create a fake fundraiser with important details like the cost and activity’s so I did a dog walking poster with a fake number to call so people can sign up!
